Over the three days you will assess your own leadership style and your proficiency with the competencies of effective leaders, practice a coaching discussion using the AMA GUIDE model, apply nine influence strategies to a change initiative, and build a strategic plan using business analysis skills. The program closes with the Build Your Leadership Brand capstone: you create a vision, mission and values statement and a strategic plan for a real-life scenario, present it to the group, and take it back to work.

    What is the AMA Leadership Certificate Program?

    This program provides a leadership development certificate, not a professional certification or license. Participants earn a certificate after completing the required AMA courses, which demonstrates advanced leadership knowledge and professional development.

    Who should enroll in this leadership and management certificate program

    This Leadership Certificate Program is ideal for managers, mid-level managers, team leaders and professionals preparing for greater leadership responsibility. It is designed for individuals who want to build leadership skills while gaining a recognized certificate from AMA. Leaders at all levels attend; there is no experience minimum. Senior executives may prefer Developing Executive Leadership, and the Women's Leadership Certificate Program is the sibling certificate for women leaders.

    How long is the program, where is it offered, and how do I enroll?

    The Leadership Certificate Program runs three consecutive days, in person in Arlington/Washington, Chicago, New York and other cities, or live online. Select live online sessions run as four sessions of 11:00 am to 5:00 pm across two weeks for leaders who cannot step away for three full days. The program fee is $3,295 for non-members and $2,995 for AMA Members in either format, and GSA pricing is $2,922. There are no prerequisites; choose a date from the schedule on this page to register, or talk with an AMA Learning Advisor to compare dates and formats.

    Both formats earn 1.8 IACET CEUs, 18 CLPs, 21 CPEs, 18 SHRM Professional Development Credits toward the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, 18 PMI Talent Triangle PDUs in Power Skills, and 18 HRCI recertification credits toward the PHR or SPHR. AMA is accredited by IACET to issue CEUs, and the program is pre-approved by HRCI for recertification credit. On completing the program you also receive an AMA leadership certificate.
