Overview

Project Stakeholder Management—Why it can make or break you

Stakeholder Management isn’t telling people what they want to hear.

Or making a status report green, when it’s really yellowish red. Or finding ways to say “yes” when your gut is telling you to say “no.”

But it is perhaps the important element of being a really successful project manager!

Project Stakeholders include anyone with a vested interest in the project—team members, functional managers (managers of team members), your manager, senior managers, third-party partners/vendors, the customer(s) of your project, the user(s) of your project deliverable, as well as people seemly unconnected to your project but who for some reason have an opinion about it.

Stakeholder Management is so important that when the Project Management Institute (PMI) published the fifth edition of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) this past year, it added a whole new chapter on Project Stakeholder Management.

What You Will Learn

Join us as industry consultant and long-time AMA speaker Gary Chin shares some insights into this critically important yet often forgotten subject:
  • What stakeholder management is and why it is critical to your success
  • Common communication mistakes that PM's make
  • Simple tools to help you better manage your stakeholder's expectations

While attending this program is FREE, reservations are required.

Gary Chin, PMP, MBA is a project management consultant, author and trainer who has worked with dozens of clients over the past two decades to help them plan, execute and govern complex projects. His pragmatic approach includes an in-depth understanding of project management (mechanics and soft skills), but it goes one step further to help clients effectively apply PM practices to their specific products and within their specific organizational environment. As a senior managing consultant for Action for Results, Inc., he helps his clients build the capabilities necessary to develop innovative products and services that respond to the needs of patients/customers worldwide.

Chin's deep expertise spans project/program management, stage gate processes and governance, portfolio and resource management, requirements gathering and implementation, and organizational change management. He is the author of Agile Project Management, speaks regularly on the above topics and has a passion for helping clients navigate the fuzzy front-end of new product development.
