American Management Association Announces New Analytical Skills Training Portfolio

American Management Association (AMA), a world leader in professional development and performance-based learning solutions, has announced a new portfolio of Analytical Skills seminars. The programs will help individual employees, HR and corporate management convert the volume, variety, and velocity of “Big Data” into meaningful insights through fact-based analytics and decision making.

The new portfolio contains 24 seminars, including "Improving Your Analytical Skills," "Big Data: Tools and Techniques," "Critical Thinking," "Mastering Google Analytics" and "Workforce Metrics and Analytics." The courses span analysis, strategy, and execution.

AMA has long provided both qualitative and quantitative analytical skills courses to career-minded professionals, said Edward T. Reilly, President and CEO of AMA. "Although 'Big Data' isn't an overnight phenomenon, there's widespread awareness that the skills needed to deal with complex data have lagged. So these courses present a digestible and practical way forward for managers who may feel overwhelmed when inundated with information. As with all AMA seminars, whether traditional classroom or live online, there is heavy emphasis on hands-on practice. This helps participants master the skills so they can apply them immediately when they are back on the job."

According to Reilly, the seminars will help individuals find, analyze, and transform information so they may develop better strategies and make more effective decisions to ensure the future success of their organizations. "While we won't make overnight 'quants' out of line managers, we certainly aim to make them conversant and comfortable in dealing with the full range of data. Employers have come to realize that we are dealing with an order of magnitude different from previous analytical climates and those who choose to ignore the implications of 'Big Data,' may do so at their own peril."

The seminars are being held at AMA's Executive Conference Centers in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. They are also being offered in more than 30 other cities across the U.S. as well as live online.
