COR Levels I and II Training Certification Courses Now Available from AMA FAC-COR training designed to meet needs of civilian Contracting Officer’s Representatives

Contracting Officer’s Representatives (CORs) and other federal employees involved in the acquisition process no longer have to take required certification courses tailored to Defense Department regulations due to two new course offerings announced today by American Management Association (AMA).

The two new AMA courses (COR Level I Training #9801 and COR Level II Training #9405) are mapped to the latest FAC-COR competencies and performance outcomes, which were approved by OFPP in January 2013. The COR Level I course has been approved by the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) which is responsible for the development of the federal acquisition workforce. Approval of the COR Level II course is expected by January. Each course qualifies for Continuous Learning Points (8 CLPs for COR Level I and 40 CLPs for COR Level II). The courses are available through AMA’s MOBIS Federal Supply Schedule Contract #GS-02F-0092R. 

Former Chief Acquisition Officer and Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Director, Ronald C. Flom worked with AMA’s Instructional Design Team to develop the two highly engaging and interactive courses which are unusual in that they focus on the needs of civilian federal contracting personnel, rather than on Department of Defense (DoD) contracting standards.  Course content uses case studies, role-playing, simulations, group experiences and more to encourage participants to learn with information relevant to their own agency’s acquisition process.

“These courses will serve the needs of CORs in two ways,” said Sam Davis, Vice President AMA Government Solutions. “First, by providing the many federal contracting employees who are waitlisted and in need of certification access to high quality, interactive FAC-COR courses in Washington, DC and around the country.  And second, by addressing the specific needs of civilian CORs versus. being forced to take courses mapped to the DoD’s COR 222 military standards.”
