July 24, 2000The
National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) has awarded
American Management Association the right to be listed in the National
Registry of Continuing Professional Education Sponsors and to issue Continuing
Professional Education (CPE) credits for many of AMA's self-study courses.
CPE credits have long been available for AMA seminars.
For Certified Public Accountants, this means that
successful completion of AMA self-study courses will be recognized by
NASBA to meet licensing requirements. They also will be recognized by
employers and professional associations. In order to maintain their licenses,
CPA's are required by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
to continue to learn in courses that enable them to improve their professional
service.
Self-study coursescreated and designed by
business and educational expertsare produced by AMACOM, AMA's publishing
division. More than 150 self-study courses are now available in areas
such as accounting, finance, personal development, management skills,
and planning. The materials are designed to be self-paced and self-directed,
and include text exercises and testing components.
AMA's ability to issue Certificates of Completion
directly to all individuals who successfully complete self-study course-work
will provide more efficient, quicker service and more complete information
to CPE customers.
AMA offers a full range of business education
and management development programs for individuals and organizations
in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Through a variety of seminars and conferences,
assessments, and customized learning solutions, publications and online
resources, more than 700,000 AMA members and customers each year learn
superior business skills and best management practices from a faculty
of top practitioners. All AMA programs, including self-study courses,
can be accessed through the AMA website at www.amanet.org.
