Association (AMA), the world’s leading membership-based management
education and development organization, has announced the appointment
of Robert G. Morales as Vice President of Internal Audit. He will be responsible
for providing an independent assessment of business risks faced by the
Association, including regulatory, legal and environmental risks, as well
as compliance with existing laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
He will develop the Association’s internal audit strategic and execution
plans.
For more than 25 years, Morales held a variety of positions
at Union Carbide Corporation in Danbury, Connecticut, including Corporate
Audit Director where he was accountable for evaluating internal controls
of worldwide operations. He was responsible for developing a coordinated
audit plan with the external audit engagement partner for review and approval
by the Audit Committee, assisting in corporate governance education programs,
fraud investigations, and establishing internal audit processes at the
corporate joint ventures.
Prior to this, he held positions at Touche Ross &
Company and Standard Brands Incorporated in New York City. He also served
as a part-time accounting professor at the State University of New York
at Old Westbury, Long Island. Additionally, he was actively involved with
internal audit associations and was a guest speaker at various internal
audit seminars. Most recently, Morales volunteered with the United Way
of Long Island as a member of a review panel that evaluates funding requests
from affiliated agencies.
Morales earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Pratt Institute
and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham University.
