Administrative Professionals Conference, November 12-14

Best-selling authors Suze Orman, Dr. Wayne Dyer among keynote speakers

SAN FRANCISCO, October 1, 2001—American Management Association (AMA) is sponsoring its 9th Annual Administrative Professionals Conference, “Gateway to Achievement,” in San Francisco November 12-14, with pre-conference workshops beginning November 11. The conference will be held at the Hilton San Francisco & Towers and will provide an opportunity for more than 1,600 administrative professionals to discover the best ways to meet the new challenges in today’s workplace.

“The role of administrative professionals continues to evolve as advances in technology and changes in the corporate structure have given rise to new expectations and additional responsibilities,” said Andrea Iadanza, AMA’s conference chair. “Many tasks once handled by meeting planners, project managers and even middle managers often are given now to administrative professionals. This conference provides them with the tools and techniques to help them succeed.”

“Gateway to Achievement” will feature 5 keynote addresses, 12 featured sessions and 30 concurrent sessions, which will focus on office technology, communication skills, an advanced track for high-level administrative professionals, and personal and professional development. Workplace and management experts, authors and “Women of Achievement” are among the presenters. The keynote speakers are:

Suze Orman, a Certified Financial Planner® professional, who wrote the best-sellers The Courage to Be Rich, The Nine Steps to Financial Freedom, and You’ve Earned It, Don’t Lose It. She frequently appears on “Oprah” and “The Today Show.”

Dr. Wayne Dyer, author of several best-sellers, including his recent book Manifest Your Destiny…Nine Spiritual Principles of Getting Everything You Want. He is one of the world’s most widely read self-development authors and social commentators.

Bonnie St. John, author of Succeeding Sane: Making Room for Joy in a Crazy World. An Olympic skier, Rhodes scholar and writer, who has worked on Wall Street and in the White House, she is living proof that there are no limits to achievement.

Melba Duncan, author of The New Executive Assistant: Advice for Succeeding in Your Career. She is founder and president of Duncan Group, Inc., the nation’s most successful recruitment firm for high-level administrative professionals.

Barbara Waugh, Ph.D., Worldwide Change Manager, Hewlett Packard Laboratories, is co-founder of HP’s World e-Inclusion Business and author of The Soul in the Computer: The Story of a Corporate Revolutionary.
