“The 5-Day MBA” American Management Association Offers Week-long Business Survey Course

NEW YORK, November 1, 2001—AMA is offering an accelerated, week-long seminar that gives students a thorough grounding in the essential elements of a high-level MBA degree program. “AMA’s 5-Day MBA Program” provides a strong foundation in the basic principles of business economics, accounting, finance, marketing and management, and demonstrates how these components are integrated in order to run a successful business.

“This survey course is designed for new managers with little or no formal business school training, or for those managers who currently oversee a single function area and are looking to broaden their skills and job responsibilities,” said Edward T. Reilly, AMA’s president and CEO. “Today, decision-making is being pushed down to lower levels of management and employees are expected to think more broadly and to make choices that reflect the overall goals of the organization,” Reilly said.

This intensive course distills the core curriculum covered in most graduate-level business programs. Participants learn how to read financial statements, understand how the economy impacts business, develop and implement a competitive business strategy, communicate effectively to any audience and successfully manage people.

Other topics include understanding the value of human capital, performance and organizational dynamics; creating and sustaining a competitive edge with an effective marketing plan; and responding to major economic indicators.

“AMA’s 5-Day MBA Program” will be held at AMA’s Executive Conference Centers in San Francisco (November 5-9, 2001 and April 15-19, 2002), Washington, D.C. (December 10-14, 2001) and Atlanta (May 13-17, 2002). The price of the program is $2,495 for AMA members and $2,695 for nonmembers. This seminar can also be customized and delivered on-site for a company or organization.
